  1. Pick a start Camera with framing guides, a photo you upload, a bird’s-eye view of your address or a sample yard.
  2. Set the scale Tell the Designer how big something is, such as your front door, so plants come out the right size. It reads the photo and asks you to confirm.
  3. Add plants and materials Search by name, color, light or height. Voice search works in Chrome, Edge and Safari.
  4. Save or send Save a picture, print it, or send the design to a landscaper with your contact details.

Plants, mulch, stone and lawn

Everything is drawn on top of your photo, not on a flat plan.

East Coast plant library

Trees, evergreens, shrubs, perennials, grasses, annuals and vines, plus garden features such as seating, fire and lighting. Cards show size, growth and tags like Native or Deer-resistant.

Ground materials

Paint mulch, stone, gravel or lawn, and draw beds, patios and edging.

Remove what is in the way

Erase an object or clear weeds to a blank canvas before you design.

Add your own items

Snap a photo of a plant or object and add it to your own library.

See it grow and change the season

Drag the See it grow slider to see each plant at future sizes using its own growth data, or press Fully grown. Pick the size you would buy, such as a 5-gallon shrub, then check the spacing at maturity.

Switch between spring, summer, fall and winter, a peak-look view, and day or night with lighting. Hold the eye button to compare with the original photo.

Save, print and share your design

Use the More menu to save a picture, print a one-page sheet with a plant and material list, or share a link or a picture to social networks. Signing in saves designs online so you can open them on another device.

The Ask AI tool can redesign an area from a plain-words description. It needs a sign-in, shows you the plan first and tells you the cost before it runs. AI pictures are labelled “Concept picture – not a build-ready plan”.

Ready to build it? Ask landscapers for quotes

When the design looks right, send it to a landscaper, or build one request for several. You can get quotes from local landscapers and follow them in My Projects.

Run a landscaping company? The Designer is built into the Contractor Hub next to quotes, jobs and invoices. See the designer for landscapers.
