Header search and the “+ New” button
Find any customer, quote, job or setting from the top bar, and start new records from the "+ New" menu.
On this page
Two tools sit on every Hub screen: the search box in the top bar, and the + New button (in the left menu on a computer, a round + button on a phone).
Search
The box says “Search customers, quotes, jobs…”. Type at least two letters. Results appear after a short pause and are grouped:
- Customers and Properties
- Jobs and visits
- Quotes
- Invoices
- Tasks
- Screens, matched by everyday name or an old name (for example “Pipeline” finds the Sales board)
- Settings, matched by setting name
You can search by name, address, phone number or quote number. If nothing shows, the box says: “Nothing found. Check the spelling, or try part of the address or phone number.”
With the box empty and in focus, you see Recent: the last items you opened, newest first (up to 20).
Steps
- Click the search box.
- Type part of a name, address, phone number or quote number.
- Use the Up and Down arrow keys to move through results, and Enter to open the highlighted one. Escape closes the list.
- Or just click a result.
Where results open: a customer opens the customer page. A property opens that customer’s Work tab. A quote opens the quote. A job opens the job card. An invoice opens the invoices screen. A setting opens its Settings tab with the setting highlighted. A task opens as a small card.
The + New menu
Click + New (on a phone, the round button). The menu depends on what your role may do. The possible entries are:
| Entry | Shown when you can |
|---|---|
| New customer | edit customers or add leads |
| New quote | start quote drafts |
| New job or visit | assign jobs |
| New invoice | see money and start drafts |
| New expense | add expenses |
| New task | everyone |
| Clock in | everyone |
New expense asks for amount, category, vendor and note. New task asks for a task title, an optional due date and notes. Clock in asks “What are you doing?” and uses the activities set up in Field work settings. If none exist you are told clock in is not set up yet.
Each small form sends a retry token, so a double tap saves the record once. If the server refuses, the reason shows in the form and nothing is saved.
Tips
- Search is faster than clicking through menus once you have many customers.
- Search only shows what your role is allowed to open.
If something goes wrong
- The result you want is missing. Try part of the phone number or address.
- “Search did not work. Try again.” Check your connection and retype.
- The + menu has fewer entries than you expected. Your role does not have those rights.
