Processing fee settings (site owner)
Set the percent and fixed fee a contractor pays on card, bank and instant payments. Values are placeholders.
When a customer pays an invoice online, VisionScaper takes a processing fee out of the payment. The rest goes to the contractor’s Stripe account. You set the fee here.
Warning: Every rate named in this article is an unapproved placeholder from the plugin. Set your own rates after you check Stripe’s current fees and your own costs.
Where to set them
- In WordPress, go to Settings → VisionScaper.
- Scroll to Contractor payments (Stripe Connect).
The fields
| Field | What it does | Starting value (placeholder, not approved) |
|---|---|---|
| Card payments, % per payment | Rate on each card, Apple Pay or Google Pay payment | 3.5% |
| Card payments, fixed $ per payment | Added to the percent | $0.30 |
| Bank (ACH) payments, % per payment | Rate on a bank payment | 1.5% |
| Instant Payouts, % of the payout | Fee on an instant payout | 2.5% |
Two tick boxes sit beside them:
- Let customers pay by bank account (ACH) (on by default)
- Offer contractors Instant Payouts (off by default)
Before you switch on Instant Payouts, enable Instant Payouts and Account Debits (US) for connected accounts in Stripe, and test in test mode.
How the fee is applied
- The fee is sent to Stripe as an application fee on the payment.
- It can never be more than the payment.
- Stripe’s own card fee is paid out of what you take, so your real margin is the fee minus Stripe’s costs.
- An Instant Payout fee has a minimum of $0.50.
What contractors see
The Get paid online screen shows the rates in plain words with a $1,000 example. When a payment arrives, the activity log shows the amount, the processing fee and what the contractor receives. The card reader screen warns that the fee shown is a placeholder.
Steps
- Decide your rates.
- Type them into the four boxes.
- Tick or untick the two options.
- Click Save Changes.
Tips
- Set your rates before contractors start taking payments.
- Rates apply to new payments only.
If something goes wrong
- Contractors receive less than expected. Check the rates and remember the fixed amount.
- ACH button missing for customers. The ACH box is not ticked.
