Set up your email service
Choose Postmark, Resend, SendGrid, Amazon SES or the site's own mail, and fill in the right boxes.
VisionScaper can send email through five services. The site administrator picks one for the whole site.
| Service | Where you set it |
|---|---|
| Postmark | Settings → VisionScaper Marketing |
| This website’s own mail | Settings → VisionScaper Marketing |
| Resend, SendGrid, Amazon SES | Settings → VisionScaper Messaging |
The Marketing page recommends Postmark. The site’s own mail suits testing and small lists, because it has no bounce handling and many mailboxes limit daily sending.
Steps for Postmark
- Create a Postmark server and a Broadcast message stream. Follow Postmark’s current instructions.
- Go to Settings → VisionScaper Marketing.
- Under Email service, select Postmark.
- Paste Postmark Server API token.
- Enter Broadcast stream ID (usually
broadcast). In Postmark, choose to manage unsubscribes yourself. VisionScaper adds its own unsubscribe link and the one-click unsubscribe header. - Enter Send from address. It must be a verified sender or domain in Postmark. Add the DKIM and Return-Path records, and publish a DMARC record.
- Set Sender name. Use
{company_name}to show each contractor’s business name, for example “{company_name} via VisionScaper”. - Copy the Postmark webhook address shown on the page. In Postmark, add it as a webhook on your Broadcast stream and tick Delivery, Bounce, Spam Complaint and Subscription Change.
- Click Save, or Save & send me a test email.
Steps for Resend, SendGrid or Amazon SES
- Create the account and verify your sending domain with that service.
- Go to Settings → VisionScaper Messaging. Under Email, set Email service to Resend, SendGrid or Amazon SES. The first option, Use the one in Marketing settings, hands the choice back to the Marketing page.
- Fill in the boxes for your service:
– Resend: Resend key, Resend webhook secret.
– SendGrid: SendGrid key, SendGrid webhook secret.
– Amazon SES: Amazon access key, Amazon secret key, Amazon webhook secret, Amazon region (like us-east-1). - Click Save.
- Add each service’s webhook as described in “Incoming message webhook addresses”.
Make sure sending runs on time
The Marketing page warns when scheduled sending is not running regularly. WordPress only runs scheduled jobs when someone visits the site. Ask your host to run a real cron job every 5 minutes, and add define( 'DISABLE_WP_CRON', true ); to wp-config.php.
Tips
- Run the Email sender check after you set the sender. See “Check your email sender (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)”.
- Messages per 5-minute run on the Marketing page limits how much goes out each run for all contractors together. Big campaigns go out over several runs.
If something goes wrong
- Marketing emails wait: if the site requires the email check, the sender must pass it first.
- Bounces are not recorded: the webhook is not added at the provider.
- Test email does not arrive: check the Send from address is verified with your provider.
