Plan wizard steps 6, 9 and 10: site photos, designs and generate
Every button and prompt in Landscape plan wizard step 6 (Site photos), step 9 (Designs) and step 10 (Generate and review).
On this page
These are the steps after the tracing. Step 6 collects one photo per spot around the property. Step 9 lets you give any area a design of your own. Step 10 shows a summary, runs the generator and opens the finished plan.
Where to find it: Contractor Hub → Design Studio → Landscape plans, in the wizard. The steps are numbered the way the screen counts them.
Before you start
- The street, property line and house must be traced before photos can start (the wizard sends you back to step 4 otherwise).
Fields
Step 6: Take the site photos
The screen shows one card per photo spot. The number of cards depends on the areas you chose in step 2.
| Field (exact label) | What it does for VisionScaper | What to enter and example | Default / notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Take photo / Retake | Opens the camera. The photo is checked right away; the card says to retake it if the check fails. If AI is available it also checks that the picture is an outdoor photo of the yard. | Stand where the small map shows the camera icon, face the arrow, take the picture. | JPG works best. Photos that cannot be opened say how to switch an iPhone to Most Compatible. |
| Choose a photo | Uses a picture from your gallery instead of the camera. | Pick a file. | |
| Can’t get this one | Skips the spot. Prompt: “Why can’t you take this one? (e.g. locked gate, dog, neighbor’s yard, not safe)”. The reason (first 120 characters) is saved and the plan notes the angle was skipped. | Type a short reason. | Shown only while the card has no photo. |
| Add a close-up | Optional close-up. After the photo you are asked “What does this show? (e.g. water pools here after rain; gas meter; slope toward the house)”. The note is saved with the photo on the property. | Take a photo, type a note. | A photo that fails the check asks “Keep it anyway?”. |
| Footer messages | Red: photos still to go. Yellow: photos kept despite a problem, or angles skipped. | Read and fix. | |
| Back | Goes to the previous step. Your work is saved as you go. | Click. | Default: Hidden on step 1 |
| Next (the label changes: Next, Generate again, Generate my plan) | Goes on to the next step. It is switched off while a red problem is listed (“blocking”). For yellow warnings it asks “Before you go on… Continue anyway?”. | Click when the footer says Ready. | The footer line shows Ready, “n things to check” or the first blocking problem. |
Step 9: Designs for each area (optional)
Each area card offers these buttons. Leave an area alone and the wizard designs it in the style chosen in step 8.
| Field (exact label) | What it does for VisionScaper | What to enter and example | Default / notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Load one of my designs | Picks a design you already made for this area. | Click, choose. | |
| Design on the bird’s-eye view | Starts a new design on the aerial (exact sizes). Shown only when the base is an aerial. | Click. | |
| Design on the photo | Starts a new design on that area’s photo (realistic look, estimated sizes). Shown only when the area has a photo. | Click. | The finished plan is marked as estimated if any area uses a photo design. |
| Use the quote’s design | Shown when the wizard was opened from a quote that has a design. | Click. | |
| Use the style instead | Drops the design for that area and goes back to the style. | Click. | |
Step 10: Generate and review
There are no typing boxes here. The page shows a Summary and a “Before generating” list of problems; each problem is a link that jumps to the step to fix.
| Field (exact label) | What it does for VisionScaper | What to enter and example | Default / notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generate my plan / Generate again | Builds the plan. On a second run it asks “Generate again? Changes you made to this plan in the editor will be replaced.” Adds drainage, irrigation and call-811 notes plus your wishes, keep and remove lists from step 7. | Click once all problems are cleared. | The plan is saved to the property and the editor opens. |
| Open the plan | Opens the site plan editor. | Click. | |
| Build a quote from it / Back to the quote | Starts a quote seeded with this customer and property, or returns to the quote you came from. | Click. | |
| All plans | Goes to the list of plans. | Click. |
Steps
- In step 6, work down the cards. For each, stand at the camera icon on the small map, face the arrow and press Take photo.
- If a spot is not reachable, press Can’t get this one and give a reason. Add close-ups of wet areas, slopes and utilities with a note.
- In step 9, leave areas on the style or press Load one of my designs / Design on the bird’s-eye view for areas you want to control.
- In step 10, check the Summary and fix any listed problem by clicking it.
- Press Generate my plan, review the plan in the editor, then press Build a quote from it.
If something goes wrong
- “n photos to go”: you cannot pass step 6 until each spot has a photo or a reason.
- A design cannot be used: the card shows the issue; load a different design or press Use the style instead.
- You regenerated and lost edits: regenerating replaces editor changes. Use Undo in the editor before closing, or keep edits in a copy.
