Settings → Get paid online: Stripe, Instant Payout and text messages

Field-by-field guide to the Stripe connection buttons, Instant Payout box and the text-messages status card.

Where to find it: Contractor Hub → Settings & Integrations → Settings → group Money → tab Get paid online. Owner screen.

What it controls: whether your customers can pay deposits and invoices online, and whether you can move your balance to your debit card early. It also shows whether text messages are switched on for your account. There are no typed fields on this tab. It has buttons, a read-only rates note and one amount box.

Before you start

  • The website owner must have saved the Stripe keys first. If not, the card shows “Online payments aren’t set up on this website yet.” and nothing else works. See get-stripe-keys.
  • You need your business and bank details ready for Stripe’s own sign-up pages. Follow Stripe’s current instructions on those pages.
  • For texting, the website owner adds Twilio under Settings → VisionScaper. See get-twilio-details.

Card 1: Get paid online (Stripe)

Item (exact label) What it does for VisionScaper What to do Default / notes
Rates note (read-only) Explains that customers can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and by bank account (ACH) when the site owner has switched ACH on. Money goes to your own Stripe account and reaches your bank in about 2 business days. Read it. Nothing to type. The card percentage, fixed amount and bank percentage come from the website owner’s settings. Any default shown is a placeholder, not approved; the owner sets their own.
“Cards: X% + $Y per payment” line Shows what you receive on a $1,000 invoice after the card fee. Read only. Worked example only.
“Bank (ACH): X% per payment” line Same for bank payments. Says it clears in about 4 business days. Read only. Only shown when ACH is on.
“Instant Payouts: X%” line Shows the fee for early payouts (money on your debit card in about 30 minutes). Read only. Only shown when Instant Payouts are on.
Status line After you press the status button it reads “✅ Ready to take payments.” or “⏳ Stripe still needs some details.” Read only. If you are already ready, the green line appears when the tab opens.
Connect with Stripe Starts Stripe’s own sign-up for your company and sends your browser to Stripe. Click and complete Stripe’s pages. The button changes by state.
Finish Stripe setup Same button, shown when you started but are not finished. Click to continue.
Update my Stripe details Same button, shown when you are ready. Lets you change details at Stripe. Click only to edit.
Check status Asks Stripe if your account can take payments, updates the status line, and opens your Stripe dashboard in a new tab if one is available. Click after you return from Stripe. Shown after you have started.
Open my Stripe account Same button once you are ready. Click to see payouts at Stripe.

Card 2: ⚡ Instant Payout

This card appears only once your Stripe account is ready and the website owner has switched Instant Payouts on.

Item (exact label) What it does for VisionScaper What to enter and example Default / notes
“Available instantly” figure (read-only) The balance that can be sent instantly right now. If it is under $1, the card says nothing is available (and shows any amount on its way to your bank). Read only.
Amount to pay out The amount to send to your debit card. A number from 1.00 up to the available figure. Example: 250.00 Starts at the full available amount.
Fee line (read-only) Shows the fee, at least $0.50, and what you will receive. Read only. Fee % comes from the website owner’s settings; placeholder, not approved.
⚡ Pay out instantly Takes the fee, then pays the rest to your debit card. If the payout fails, the fee is given back. Click once. Limit of 10 instant payouts per day. Stripe needs a debit card on your Stripe account.

Card 3: Text messages (read-only)

Item What it does for VisionScaper What to do Default / notes
Status line If texting is on, it reads “✅ Texting is on. Follow-ups and visit reminders can go by text; customer replies are logged and emailed to you.” Otherwise it warns that texting is not set up and that email works. Nothing to type here. Ask the website owner to add Twilio. Texting counts as ready only when the Twilio account SID, auth token and a sending number (or messaging service) are all saved.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Money → Get paid online.
  2. If you see the “aren’t set up” warning, stop and tell the website owner.
  3. Click Connect with Stripe. Complete Stripe’s pages. Your browser returns to VisionScaper.
  4. Reopen this tab and click Check status. Wait for the green “Ready” line.
  5. Optional: when the Instant Payout card shows a balance, type an Amount to pay out and click ⚡ Pay out instantly.
  6. Confirm the Text messages card says texting is on, if you want text reminders.

Tips

  • Add a debit card inside your Stripe account before using Instant Payout.
  • The invoice “How to pay” text and the pay button are separate. See settings-invoice-design-content-and-reminders.

If something goes wrong

  • “Connect Stripe first”: the payout needs a ready Stripe account.
  • “Instant Payouts aren’t switched on on this website”: the website owner has not turned them on.
  • “That’s a lot of instant payouts today”: you hit the daily limit of 10. Try tomorrow.
  • “That amount is too small for an instant payout”: the fee would be as large as the amount.
  • Stuck on “Stripe still needs some details”: click Finish Stripe setup and complete every step Stripe asks for.
