Connect other tools overview (access keys, alerts, Zapier)

What the Connect other tools screen does, who can use it, and how its four tabs fit together.

Connect other tools lets other software work with your VisionScaper data, or lets VisionScaper tell another tool when something happens.

In the Contractor Hub it sits under Settings as Zapier & API keys. The screen heading is Connect other tools, and its address is #/settings/api.

Who can use it

  • It is a plan feature (called api.access). Which plans include it is a placeholder, not approved.
  • Owners and managers who can manage the team can open it.
  • If your plan does not include it, you see the message and a See plans button.
  • The hourly request limit also comes from your plan and is a placeholder, not approved.

The four tabs

Tab What it is for
Access keys Make named keys that other software uses to read or add data.
Alerts to other tools Have VisionScaper send a signed message to a web address when something happens.
Zapier Addresses and steps for connecting Zapier.
How it works A short guide, the starting address, and a sample request.

The top of the screen also shows how many requests per hour your plan allows across all keys together, and how many were used this hour.

Steps to get started

  1. Open Settings → Zapier & API keys.
  2. On Access keys, type what will use it (for example “Zapier”) and tick what it may do. Press Make a key.
  3. Copy the key now. It is shown once.
  4. Either call the interface yourself (see API authentication and base URL) or set up alerts (see Alerts (webhooks): setup and events).

Tips

  • Nothing here changes how you use VisionScaper day to day.
  • Make one key per tool, so you can turn off one without breaking the others.
  • You can have up to 20 active keys and up to 25 alerts.

If something goes wrong

  • The screen says “This is not part of your plan.”: your plan does not include it.
  • You cannot see the screen: your login may not have team-management permission.
  • Other messages: see API errors and rate limits.
