Get your Google Contacts Client ID and secret
Turn on the People API and create an OAuth client so VisionScaper can sync customers with Google Contacts.
The Google Contacts connection imports and exports customers between VisionScaper and your Google Contacts. It uses its own OAuth client, separate from sign-in, though you can use the same Google Cloud project.
What VisionScaper uses
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Where | Contractor Hub → Integrations → Google Contacts card. Fields Client ID and Client secret. |
| API to enable | People API |
| Scopes requested | openid email https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts |
| Authorized redirect URI | https://yoursite.com/wp-json/dreamscaper/v1/oauth/google/callback. The card shows the exact address with a Copy button. (Sites without pretty links use the rest_route form; copy from the card.) |
| Other fields | How data moves, Only import contacts with this Google label, Update automatically every hour, and the deletions checkbox |
Before you start
- A Google account and Cloud Console access.
- Your VisionScaper Contractor Hub open on the Integrations tab, to copy the redirect address.
Steps
- In Cloud Console open Library, search for People API (the card links to it) and click Enable. Use your sign-in project or a new one.
- Open the Google Auth Platform consent setup (see the sign-in guide for the screens). Choose External and add your email.
- Under Data Access add the scope ending
/auth/contacts. (The VisionScaper card tells you to add this scope; the exact Data Access screen text was not confirmed.) - Set the publishing status to In production. VisionScaper’s card says that otherwise Google disconnects you every 7 days.
- Open Clients → Create Client → Web application. Add the redirect address copied from the VisionScaper card. Click Create and copy the Client ID and the secret (shown once).
- In VisionScaper paste both, choose How data moves (import only, export only, or both ways), then click Save settings.
- Click Connect Google Contacts and approve. Google may warn the app is unverified; the card says to click Advanced and continue, since it is your own app.
Tips
- Exported customers go into a label called “VisionScaper Customers”.
- Leave deletions off at first; it is the safer choice.
- Disconnect removes access and deletes the saved keys. Customers stay in both places.
If something goes wrong
- Disconnects every week: the app is still in Testing. Set it to In production.
- redirect_uri_mismatch: recopy the address from the card.
- Needs reconnect warning: press Reconnect.
- API not enabled error: enable the People API in the same project as the client.
