Point Twilio at VisionScaper
Set the incoming-message and incoming-call webhook addresses on your Twilio number so replies reach VisionScaper.
When a customer replies, Twilio must tell your website. You do that by putting two addresses into Twilio. VisionScaper then logs the reply, emails the contractor, turns unknown texters into leads, and honors STOP.
Before you start
- A Twilio number or Messaging Service.
- Your Twilio Auth Token saved in VisionScaper. The plugin uses it to check that each webhook is from Twilio.
The two addresses
Both addresses are printed in WordPress. Copy them from there, because the start depends on your site.
| Twilio setting | Address ends in | Printed at |
|---|---|---|
| A message comes in | /wp-json/dreamscaper/v1/crm/twilio |
Settings → VisionScaper, Text messages (Twilio), step 4 |
| A call comes in | /wp-json/dreamscaper/v1/crm/voice |
Settings → VisionScaper Marketing, Texts & missed calls (Twilio) |
(The word in the path is only a technical address, not a product name.)
Steps
- In the Twilio Console open the number (or the Messaging Service).
- Find the setting named A message comes in. VisionScaper’s own instructions use that name. Twilio’s help pages I read did not give the Console wording, so use what you see. Not verified.
- Choose Webhook, method HTTP POST, and paste the text address.
- If you use missed-call texting on a contractor number, set A call comes in to the voice address (webhook, HTTP POST).
- Save in Twilio.
- Send a test text to your number from your own phone. Reply “STOP” and “START” to see the opt-out work.
What VisionScaper does with each reply
- Logs it in the contractor’s customer record.
- Emails the contractor.
- Treats a text from an unknown number as a new lead.
- Honors STOP.
- For calls: rings the contractor’s phone, offers voicemail if no one answers, and texts the caller right away. The contractor picks which phone it rings in the Marketing controls.
Tips
- Twilio’s Messaging Service defaults to “Defer to sender’s webhook”, so set the webhook on each number unless you changed that.
- The address must be public HTTPS. A site behind a password page will not work.
If something goes wrong
- Twilio shows a 403 or an error status. The Auth Token in VisionScaper does not match the Twilio account.
- Twilio shows 404. The site’s permalinks may be off. Open the address in a browser. If it fails, check with your host.
- Replies never arrive. The webhook was set on a different number or service than the one you text.
