The customer payment page

What your customer sees when they open an invoice link: the invoice, pay buttons, receipt and print option.

Every invoice has its own web address. The customer opens it from your email or text. They do not need a VisionScaper account.

What the page shows

The page uses your invoice design: your logo and business details, the customer, the invoice number and dates, line items, totals, notes, terms and footer. The due date is large and in your brand color. Search engines are told not to list the page.

At the top right is a 🖨️ Print / Save PDF button.

The pay box

The pay box sits just under the totals when the invoice is open and your Stripe account is ready.

  • 💳 Pay $X by card: Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on Stripe’s page.
  • 🏦 Pay by bank account: only if the site owner allows bank payments. It takes about 4 business days to clear.
  • A line says the payment goes through Stripe and that your business receives it directly.

If your Stripe account is not ready, there is no pay box. Use the How to pay text to tell the customer what to do, for example “Checks payable to…”.

After the customer pays

  1. They return to the invoice page after Stripe.
  2. A card payment marks the invoice Paid, and the PAID stamp can show.
  3. A bank payment shows “Bank payment processing” with a note that it clears in about 4 business days and a receipt follows.
  4. You get an alert. The customer gets a payment receipt, even if your account is paused.
  5. The invoice’s activity log shows the method, the processing fee and what you receive.

Messages the customer can see instead of paying

  • “This invoice is already paid. Thank you!”
  • “Your bank payment is already on its way.”
  • “An automatic payment for this invoice is being processed right now.”
  • “A payment of $X was already recorded on this invoice, so it can’t be paid online in full.”
  • “This contractor doesn’t take online payments yet. Please pay them directly.”

For you

  • Open the page yourself with Copy link to check it.
  • Use the editor preview to see the design before sending.

Tips

  • Keep How to pay filled in. It helps when a customer wants to pay by check.
  • Printed copies hide the pay box.

If something goes wrong

  • Customer says the pay button is missing. Your Stripe is not ready, or the invoice is not in the Sent state.
  • Customer says “Invoice not found.” The link may be wrong or the invoice may be voided or still a draft.
