Add the shortcodes and create your pages

Create a Designer page and a Contractor Hub page, and learn the shortcode options and the link tricks that open the app.

A shortcode is a small tag you type into a WordPress page. VisionScaper turns it into a launch card with a button.

Steps

  1. In WordPress, go to Pages → Add New.
  2. Title it, for example, “Try the Designer”.
  3. Add a Shortcode block (or paste into the text editor) and type [visionscaper].
  4. Publish the page.
  5. Make a second page, for example “Contractor Hub”, with [visionscaper mode="hub"]. Publish it.
  6. View each page. You should see a teal launch card with a button.
  7. Click the button. The full-screen app opens.

Shortcode options

Shortcode What it does
[visionscaper] The Designer launch card.
[visionscaper mode="hub"] The Contractor Hub launch card.
[visionscaper_hub] Same as mode=”hub”.
[dreamscaper] An older tag that still works and shows the Designer.

You can change the words on the card:

[visionscaper title="My Yard Studio" text="Design your yard on a photo." button="Start designing"]

  • title is the heading.
  • text is the paragraph under it.
  • button is the button label. VisionScaper adds an arrow after it.

If you leave these out, VisionScaper uses its own wording for the Designer or the Hub.

Other ways to open the app

  • A link to #visionscaper opens it.
  • Any element with the attribute data-visionscaper-open opens it when clicked.
  • Both only work on a page that contains the shortcode.

Other shortcodes

The plugin also registers [dreamscaper_quote], [dreamscaper_request], [dreamscaper_chat] and [dreamscaper_terms]. Their set-up is covered in other areas of this manual (not verified here).

Tips

  • Use one launch card per page. The app loads its code once per page.
  • When a page with a shortcode is viewed, VisionScaper remembers it as your Designer or Hub page and uses it for internal links.
  • Put the Hub page where contractors will look, such as a footer link.

If something goes wrong

  • The page shows the raw shortcode text. Use a Shortcode block, not a code block.
  • The button does nothing. A caching or minify plugin may be breaking the scripts. See [caching-and-minify-exclusions].
  • Camera does not start. The page must be on https.
