Explore your home in 3D and save angles

Fly around your property in Google 3D, bookmark viewing angles and get directions for photographing from a saved spot.

Explore in 3D lets you orbit your home on a photorealistic map, bookmark good viewing angles, then photograph from the matching spot.

Before you start

  • The site owner must add a Google Maps API key in Settings → VisionScaper. The key setting mentions enabling the Maps JavaScript API. Without the key the Explore in 3D button does not appear. Follow Google’s current instructions for creating and restricting the key.
  • Saved angles store camera positions only. No Google imagery is captured, stored or edited.

Steps

  1. Start a design (or tap Add view) and choose Explore in 3D.
  2. Type your address and tap Go.
  3. Fly around. Drag to orbit, scroll or pinch to zoom, right-drag to tilt.
  4. When you like a view, tap Save this angle. Name it when asked (the default is “Angle 1”, “Angle 2” and so on).
  5. In Saved angles, each angle shows what it faces (for example north-east) and how many meters away you are. Use View to fly back, the bin icon to delete it, or Snap from here.
  6. Snap from here opens the camera with directions: “Go to the spot that matches [name]: face [direction], about [x] ft from the house. Phone sideways at eye level.”
  7. Take the photo. It opens in the Designer, labeled with the angle’s name.

Tips

  • Angles belong to the design, so the next time you open Explore in 3D for that design the first saved angle is shown.
  • Use Explore in 3D to decide which angles of your home are worth photographing.

If something goes wrong

  • “3D view is unavailable right now. You can still take or upload a photo.”: Google 3D could not load. Check the key and your connection.
  • “Address not found”: add the town and state.
  • Button missing: no Maps key is set.
