Landscape plan wizard: customer, scope, measurements, scale, site details and style

Every input in the Landscape plans wizard steps 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8, plus the typed measurements and survey scale boxes.

The Landscape plans wizard builds a measured 2D plan in ten saved steps: 1 Customer & property, 2 What to plan, 3 Bird’s-eye base map, 4 Trace the property, 5 Check the scale, 6 Site photos, 7 Site details, 8 Style, 9 Designs and 10 Generate & review. It saves as you go, on this device and on the property, so you can start in the office and finish on site.

Where to find it: Contractor Hub → Design Studio → Landscape plans, then New landscape plan. Your plan must include the Landscape plans tool (a tool you can switch on or off in “Show me” settings). This article covers the typed inputs. Steps 3, 4, 6, 9 and 10 are mostly drawing, photo and button steps and are listed as not covered in detail.

Which parts of the property? The areas the plan designs. The whole property is always measured. Each area gets its own guided photos. Options: Front yard, Back yard, Left side yard, Right side yard. Click each area (several allowed). None. You must pick at least one: “Pick at least one area.”
What kind of job? Options: New landscape, Renovation, Refresh (plants & mulch). Pick one. Refresh turns off walkway and patio.
Include Options: Walkway & patio; Privacy screen at the back. Planting beds and plants are always included. Click each you want. Set by your earlier choice.

Typed measurements (when you have no map)

Use feet, or feet and inches like 32' 6". This is for square lots and houses only. For anything else use a survey or the bird’s-eye view.

Lot width (along the street) The front property line length. 100. Empty.
Lot depth How deep the lot is. 150. Empty.

Survey scale

Length on the survey (feet) After you tap both ends of a property line that has its length written on the survey, this sets the drawing’s scale. 100.00 or 85' 6". Empty.

Step 5: Check the scale

Aerial pictures are very close to scale, but one real measurement proves it and corrects the plan. Do not use the house: its roof overhangs, so it looks bigger from above.

Field (exact label) What it does for VisionScaper What to enter and example Default / notes

The footer lists problems in red (“bad”), yellow (“warn”) and green; fix red items before the next step.

Step 8: Style

Each style card shows how many library plants fit this site (zone, sun, deer) and warns if few fit or if part of the site is too shady. The star marks a suggested style that fits the site and the maintenance they want. Options: Traditional, Modern, Cottage garden, Native & pollinator, Drought-tolerant, Japanese, Formal, Low maintenance. Click one to choose it.

Steps

  1. Open Landscape plans → New landscape plan.
  2. Pick the customer and the full property address.
  3. Tap the areas, the job kind and the extras.
  4. Do the base map and tracing steps, then the tape check in step 5.
  5. Add site photos, then fill in Site details.
  6. Choose a style, then continue to Designs and Generate & review.

Tips

  • Measure on site early; it corrects the whole plan.
  • A full street address with the town and state helps the wizard find the property.

If something goes wrong

  • “Choose a customer.” / “Pick at least one area.” Fix that step before Next.
  • Property not found from above: check the address is complete.
  • Plan marked less accurate: you skipped the tape check; redo step 5 on site.
