Site plan editor: toolbar, drawing options and item properties

Every box in the site plan drawing editor: view options, backdrop, the item panel and the properties for each kind of item.

The site plan editor is the drawing screen where you shape, measure and price a landscape plan. Everything is stored in feet. The aerial photo, a survey or a blank grid is only a backdrop behind your shapes.

Where to find it: Contractor Hub → Design Studio → Landscape plans, finish or open a plan and press Open the plan (the plan wizard does this after it generates your plan). Other entry points were not verified in code. It needs your plan to include Landscape plans.

Proposed items are priced automatically from your price book. Anything marked Existing is only for reference.

Before you start

  • Set your price book first (Settings → Price book tabs) so the quantities become real prices. See the price book articles.

Backdrop (checkbox) (layers.bg) Shows or hides the backdrop picture (aerial, survey or grid). The shapes are not affected. Untick to see only your shapes. On.
Existing (checkbox) (layers.existing) Shows or hides shapes marked Existing (house, driveway, old plants). Untick to see only the new work. On.

A survey or photo needs its scale set next (the Set scale tool opens for you). Choices: Aerial photo (to scale); Survey / plot plan / photo; Blank grid; Remove backdrop. The first time you open an empty plan this menu opens by itself and is titled Start your plan.
AI Measure Traces lawn, beds, patios and similar shapes from the aerial for you. The traced outlines are ordinary shapes you can edit. Click, then review each outline. Shown only when AI is available in your plan (availability not verified here).
Save plan Closes the editor and saves the plan. Click when done. Closing with the X asks “Close without saving your plan changes?” if you changed anything.

  • Nothing is drawn after you tap: you are still in Select & edit. Pick a drawing tool first.
  • Corners will not stay where you tap: untick Snap 6″ or Square corners.
  • You closed by mistake: the editor asks before it discards changes. Choose Cancel to stay.
