Entitlements page: how VisionScaper decides who may do what
The order of checks behind every yes or no, the error codes, billing banners and the monthly usage counters.
Where: Settings → VisionScaper Entitlements. Administrators only. The page is the one place that lists every feature and limit, per plan, and holds your audited exceptions. It also shows two warning bars at the top, described here. This article explains the rules behind it so the later articles make sense.
The banners at the top
- Billing is switched OFF. Every contractor is treated as on the top plan (“comped: billing off”). Nobody is charged or limited by plan. The link takes you to VisionScaper Plans ([plans-billing-switch-and-free-trial]).
- Billing is on but Stripe is not connected. Accounts keep the plan and state on record, nothing is opened up, and nobody can start or change a subscription until the Stripe key is added.
- After saving, a green “Saved and written to the audit log.”, “Nothing changed.” or a red error message appears.
How a decision is made
For each request from a contractor or team member, the server answers in this order, using trusted data only:
- Which company is the person acting for (their own approved business, or the company that lists them and has not switched them off)?
- Is the company the site owner, or is billing off? Then it is allowed (“comped”).
- What is the subscription state? No subscription, a missing plan, paused, cancelled, an expired trial, or a past-due account in the read-only or suspended stage means changes are refused. Reading records you already have stays open (“read only”). Paying and exporting stay open.
- Past due and in the restricted stage: costly features whose “restrict” box you ticked on the Plans page are refused ([plans-payment-failure-stages]).
- The plan’s value for that feature, or an audited account override ([entitlements-account-override]), or the catch-up window ([entitlements-catch-up-window]).
- For a limit: used so far against the limit.
Error codes
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
FEATURE_NOT_INCLUDED |
The plan does not have it. The message names the plan that does. |
SUBSCRIPTION_REQUIRED |
No subscription yet, or the record is missing or inconsistent. |
USAGE_LIMIT_REACHED |
The allowance is used up. Nothing is lost. |
SUBSCRIPTION_INACTIVE |
Paused, cancelled, trial over, or payment too late. |
Two kinds of feature
- records: reading what you already have stays open when the plan is lowered or paused; only creating stops.
- premium: the feature itself stops, even to look.
Usage counters
Monthly allowances (AI credits, new landscape plans, marketing emails and texts) use one counter per company, per feature and per month (UTC), with a ledger of every use. A request that would pass the limit is refused. Retries are harmless, a failed operation gives its credit back, and a use is recorded as reserved, committed, released, refused or adjusted. Contractors see used/limit/left in their app. There is no input for the counters on this page; limits are set in the matrix ([entitlements-plan-matrix-limits]).
Tips
- If a customer says “I’m blocked”, look at Recent refusals ([entitlements-audit-log-and-recent-refusals]).
- A route not yet classified in code is protected by default: it needs an active subscription to change anything.
If something goes wrong
- Everyone has access though you set limits: billing is probably off (check the top banner).
- Nobody can subscribe: Stripe key missing ([get-stripe-keys]).
