Settings → Services: templates list, versions and job profit

The Services tab button, the Services screen, archive and default actions, version history with compare and restore, and the Job profit report.

In the Contractor Hub, Settings → Business → Services shows a short card named Service templates with one button, 🧩 Open Services. That button takes you to the Services area (it is also a square and a menu item in the Hub). Services holds your reusable service templates: defaults for price, duration, crew, scope, materials, checklist, messages and automations, with version history and job profit.

What you can do depends on your team permissions. The owner can do everything. Other roles may be allowed to use templates but not change them (the screen then says “Your role can use these templates on jobs. Only the owner (or a manager, if allowed) can change them.”). The cost fields and the Job profit tab need the cost permission.

Before you start

  • A rough idea of your services and prices. Starter services come with scope and checklists but no prices: you add those.
  • To fill in costs, your Costs & markups settings (see the costs article) should be set.

Job profit tab

From Start date of the report. Pick a date. Default 1 January this year.
To End date. Pick a date. Default today.
Category Limits the report to one category. Pick All categories or one category. Default All categories.
Show (button) Loads the report: jobs, revenue, estimated and actual cost, estimated and actual hours, estimated and actual margin per service. Press it. Actual figures count only jobs where actuals were recorded.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Business → Services and press 🧩 Open Services (or tap the Services square).
  2. If the list is empty, press Add starter services or New service.
  3. Fill in the template (see the template editor article) and press Save template.
  4. Use the ⭐ star to make your favourite the default for its category.
  5. After changing a template, open 🕘 to see the new version number. Old quotes and invoices keep the version they used.
  6. Use the Job profit tab to see which services make money.

Tips

  • Every save of a template is a new version, so a template change never alters an existing estimate, proposal, contract, invoice or finished job.
  • Archive rather than delete: you can bring it back.
  • Duplicate a template to make a seasonal variation.

If something goes wrong

  • No New service button. Your role cannot edit templates. Ask the owner.
  • No Job profit tab. It needs the cost permission.
  • Job profit says no finished work. Add services to visits, quotes and invoices, then record actuals when jobs are done.
