Settings → Price book: beds, stone, edging, sod, seed, grading, delivery, cleanup

Every price-book number for mulch, stone, new beds, edging, sod, seed, grading, delivery and final cleanup, with what each does.

Open the Contractor Hub, choose Settings, pick the Prices and quotes group and the Price book tab. The price book is your supplier prices and production rates. Every number feeds the automatic estimate when a Landscape plan is priced. The tab is one list of folding sections (you click a section’s name to open it). This article covers the sections for beds, stone, edging, lawns, grading, delivery and cleanup. Hard surfaces and walls are in one article, plants, removals and lighting in another.

Warning: Every figure shipped in the price book is a placeholder, not approved. They are Connecticut ballpark figures and the book itself says costs are YOUR cost. Replace each with your own cost before you quote anybody.

Before you start

  • A current price list from your suppliers (mulch, stone, sod, seed, topsoil, edging, delivery).
  • Your own crew’s production speed (hours per unit). Use recent jobs if you can.
  • Know how the screen works. The hint at the top says: “Your supplier prices and production rates. Every number here feeds the automatic estimate. Pairs like ‘steel: 3.25, 0.06’ are cost per foot and hours per foot.”

How the screen works

  • Each section (for example Mulch) is a closed bar. Click it to open the boxes inside.
  • Every box is a text box that takes a number. A box with two or three numbers separated by commas holds a cost and the hours (and sometimes a third value).
  • Only the boxes you change are stored as your own. The rest keep following VisionScaper’s placeholders.
  • Save price book stores your changes. Reset to defaults asks you to confirm, then removes all of your overrides across the whole book.
  • Some entries are not shown here because they are words, not numbers (for example the list of mulch types and stone types). They cannot be edited on this tab.
  • Labels without a units note come straight from the setting name (for example “Tons Per Cy”). Read them as in the tables below.

Buttons

Field (exact label) What it does for VisionScaper What to enter and example Default / notes
Save price book (button) Stores your edited numbers. Press once after editing. Message “Saved.”
Reset to defaults (button) Removes all your overrides in every section so the placeholder numbers come back. Press, then OK on the confirmation “Reset the whole price book to VisionScaper defaults?”. Cannot be undone; the screen redraws with the defaults.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Prices and quotes → Price book.
  2. Click Mulch and enter your cost per cubic yard, waste percent and the hours you need per yard.
  3. Work down the list: Decorative stone, New bed, Edging, Sod, Seed, Grading, Delivery and Final cleanup. Open only the sections you quote.
  4. For Edging, type both numbers with a comma between them, for example the cost, then the hours (the placeholder pairs look like “3.25, 0.06”).
  5. Press Save price book and wait for “Saved.”
  6. Open a priced Landscape plan to confirm the new numbers are used.

Tips

  • Costs are your cost, not your selling price. Selling price comes from the markups in Costs & markups.
  • Update prices at the start of each season; mulch, stone and sod change often.
  • Leave a section alone if you never quote that work. The placeholder numbers will not hurt, but they are not yours.

If something goes wrong

  • My number turned into 0. A box that is empty or holds text that is not a number is saved as 0. Retype it.
  • An edging number was ignored. Edging boxes need a comma between the numbers. Without it only one number is read.
  • Saved is not shown. The error message tells you why; try again.
  • I want the original back. Press Reset to defaults.
