View as customer: test the Hub on any plan or billing state

Use the View as customer button on the Contractor Hub to see what a customer on any plan or payment state would see.

Where: the Contractor Hub (the front-end app), not a WordPress settings page. A small floating button appears at the bottom left: View as customer (it reads “Viewing as: …” while a test is on). Only administrators see it; the server sends the list to administrators only.

I could not find a tool called “Try a customer’s plan” in the code. The View as tester is the tool that does that job. (not verified in code: any other tool by that name)

What it does

You see the real Hub as a customer in the chosen state would, with nothing charged or changed. It applies only to your own account and expires by itself after 8 hours. Billing actions (checkout, plan change, cancel, card portal, verification codes) are refused with a “Test view” message. Your real records still count, so usage bars compare your real data with that plan’s limits.

Controls

Steps

  1. Open the Contractor Hub while signed in as an administrator.
  2. Click View as customer at the bottom left.
  3. Click a state. The page reloads and the button turns orange: “Viewing as: …”.
  4. Look around. Check what is locked and what the upgrade prompts say.
  5. Click View as customer again and choose ← Back to my own account.

If something goes wrong

  • No button: you are not an administrator or you are not on the Hub.
  • A billing button says “Test view”: that is deliberate; end the test first.
  • It ended on its own: tests last 8 hours.
