OSRM routing server address
Point VisionScaper at your own OSRM server for driving distances when you do not use a Google server key.
The Route planner needs driving distances. VisionScaper picks the best source it has.
Order of choice
- A Google key (the server key, or the main key if the server key is empty).
- An OSRM routing server (optional) address you host.
- Without either, the planner estimates road miles from straight-line distance.
Before you start
- A running OSRM server that your website can reach over
https://. You or your host must run it. This manual does not cover installing OSRM.
Steps
- Open Settings → VisionScaper in WordPress admin.
- Find OSRM routing server (optional) in the Basics area.
- Type the address, for example
https://osrm.example.com. - Press Save Changes.
- Try the Route planner.
Rules enforced
- Only
https://addresses are saved. Any other value is cleared to blank. - The address is trimmed of a trailing slash when used.
Tips
- The public OSRM demo servers are meant for light use. Check their terms.
- Keep your OSRM data fresh so new roads appear.
- If you use Google’s Routes API for distances, the OSRM box is not needed.
If something goes wrong
- The box turns blank after saving: it did not start with
https://. - The route planner still gives rough mileage: neither Google nor OSRM answered. Test the server address in a browser.
- The phone app’s dispatch view shows no routing: it reports “osrm” only when this box is filled. Otherwise it shows none. (This reading is from the code and was not tested.)
