Twilio text messaging setup
Connect Twilio so VisionScaper can send and receive texts, including the registration US carriers require.
Twilio is the default text service. It sends texts to customers and logs their replies.
Before you start
- A Twilio account and a local phone number that can text.
- US texting needs A2P 10DLC registration. Carriers block texts until it is approved.
- Follow Twilio’s current instructions for each of these.
Steps
- In Twilio, buy a number with SMS.
- In Twilio Console, register your business and a campaign for customer care or account notifications, as the VisionScaper screen advises.
- Optional but recommended: create a Messaging Service, add your number, and copy its SID (it starts with
MG). - In WordPress admin, open Settings → VisionScaper and find Text messages (Twilio).
- Paste Twilio Account SID (starts with
AC). - Paste Twilio Auth Token.
- Paste Twilio phone number, like
+18605550100. You can skip this if you use a Messaging Service. - Paste Messaging Service SID (optional).
- Press Save Changes.
- In Twilio, set the number’s (or Messaging Service’s) “A message comes in” to Webhook, HTTP POST, using the address shown in the VisionScaper screen. It ends in
/wp-json/dreamscaper/v1/crm/twilio.
What this does
- Customer replies are logged in the CRM and emailed to the contractor.
- Texts from unknown numbers become leads.
- STOP is honored.
- Marketing texts need their own marketing campaign in Twilio. See the VisionScaper Marketing page.
Missed-call text-back
On Settings → VisionScaper Marketing, you can offer missed-call text-back. Buy one Twilio number per contractor, add it to your Messaging Service, and assign it on that page. In Twilio, point “A call comes in” to the crm/voice address and “A message comes in” to the crm/twilio address shown on the page.
Tips
- Choose which text service is main on Settings → VisionScaper Messaging. See Telnyx text setup for the backup option.
- Test with your own mobile number first.
If something goes wrong
- “Text messages aren’t set up yet.” One of the Twilio boxes is empty.
- Texts send but never arrive: A2P registration may be pending.
- Replies do not show in the CRM: check the incoming-message webhook address and that your site is on
https://.
