Try a sample yard
Practice in the Designer with five ready-made yards before using your own photo.
On this page
A sample yard is a ready-made photo with its scale already set. It is the quickest way to try the tools.
Steps
- From the home screen, tap Try a sample yard (under “How it works”, “Take the tour” and “Inspiration Board”). You can also choose Sample yard when starting a design.
- In the window Choose a sample yard, tap one:
– Front bed: a planting bed along the house.
– Colonial front yard: big open lawn, walkway and driveway.
– Back yard: deck, fence, shed and bare ground for a patio.
– Cape Cod front yard: stone wall, gravel drive and a flagstone path.
– Ranch front yard: wide lawn, brick ranch and a long front walk. - The design opens named “Sample” plus the yard name.
What to try
- Open the Add tool, tap a plant in the library and tap the photo to place it.
- Slide See it grow to watch it mature.
- Paint a patch of mulch, or use Add an area.
- Try Remove something on a bin or hose, if your photo has one.
- Take Take the tour from the home screen or “Help: show me around” in the More menu.
Tips
- The sample photos are bundled with VisionScaper. If a sample photo cannot load, a painted drawing of a front yard is used instead.
- Samples are saved as normal designs in My designs. Delete them there when you are done.
- Each sample comes with its eye-level line already placed, so you can start adding plants right away.
If something goes wrong
- The sample window does not appear: reload the page and try again.
- Plants look wrong size: open the Scale tab and use “Test growth” to check.
