WP-Cron: why it matters
VisionScaper sends follow-ups, reminders and other automatic messages through WordPress’s scheduled task system (WP-Cron). The readme says follow-ups go out every 5 minutes. The main task (dreamscaper_crm_tick) checks for due follow-ups, recurring invoices and expiring quotes. Other tasks run hourly (for example field operations, integrations and subscriptions) or daily (clean-ups and messaging housekeeping). The messaging and receptionist tools add their own schedules.
WP-Cron only runs when someone visits your site. On a quiet site, tasks can run late.
Make it reliable
- Ask your host how to add a real cron job (or use your host’s cron tool).
- Make it call
wp-cron.phpon your site every few minutes. The readme recommends this for low-traffic sites. - Optionally disable WordPress’s visit-triggered cron with the standard WordPress setting
DISABLE_WP_CRONinwp-config.php. This is a general WordPress step, not specific to VisionScaper. - Send a test follow-up or a test reminder to yourself and see if it arrives on time.
Backups
Back up the database and your files before you install, upgrade or change settings in bulk. Your business data lives in the WordPress database. Designs of visitors who did not create an account live only in their own browser, so you cannot back those up.
Updates
- Take a backup.
- Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and upload the newer zip. Install it over the old one and activate.
- New database tables are created automatically on upgrade (as the changelog says for 2.42.0).
- Some releases ask for extra steps. The 2.43.3 notes say to upload the textures folder and click Rebuild photo list under Library packs on Settings → VisionScaper.
- Clear your cache and test both pages.
To roll back, reinstall the older version. The 2.42.0 changelog notes that new tables are left unused after a rollback.
Tips
- Read the changelog in the plugin’s readme before each upgrade.
- Keep one test page for each shortcode.
If something goes wrong
- Follow-ups arrive hours late. WP-Cron is not running often enough. Add a real cron job.
- Nothing sends. Check the site’s mail setup and, for texts, Twilio.
- A photo or material is missing after upgrade. Click Rebuild photo list.
