Site-wide safety switches and monthly limits

The administrator's kill switch, approval rules, redaction, retention and monthly caps in VisionScaper Messaging.

The Safety section of Settings → VisionScaper Messaging controls rules for every business on the site. Only a site administrator can see it.

Steps

  1. In WordPress, go to Settings → VisionScaper Messaging.
  2. Scroll to Safety. These checkboxes are available:
    – Stop all texts and emails on this site (kill switch). Nothing sends while it is on. Businesses see a banner “Messaging is switched off for this whole site”.
    – Only let a business text after its “Get ready to text” details are approved.
    – Only let a business send marketing email after the sender passes the email check.
    – Hide phone numbers and email addresses inside saved messages (redaction).
  3. Set Keep conversations for (days, 0 = forever). The code default is 90 days. Old conversations are deleted on a schedule.
  4. Set Most texts per business per month (0 = no limit).
  5. Set Most emails per business per month (0 = no limit).
  6. Click Save.

What each setting does

Setting Effect on a business
Kill switch Every send is blocked with “Messaging is switched off on this site”
Registration required Texts are held until the business’s status is Approved
Email check required Marketing email is held until SPF, DKIM and DMARC pass
Redaction Phone numbers and emails inside saved messages are hidden
Retention Conversations older than this are removed
Monthly caps When reached, sends stop with “The monthly limit for texts has been reached” (or emails)

A developer can also force the kill switch on in the site’s code configuration. Ask your developer if you need that.

Approve text registrations

At the bottom of the page, Businesses waiting for text approval lists businesses that sent their “Get ready to text” form. For each one, pick Approved by carriers or Rejected. If rejecting, write a Reason, if rejected. The reason shows to the business. Click Save. Each decision is written to the audit record.

Prices

The Prices (placeholders – set your own) section holds cost per text or email, margin %, and message packs. These values are placeholders and not approved. See “Message usage, limits and extra packs”.

Tips

  • Use the kill switch if something goes wrong, such as a bad campaign. Turn it off again when fixed.
  • Monthly caps count sent and delivered messages for the month. They are a site-wide ceiling, separate from each plan’s allowance.

If something goes wrong

  • A business says its texts are held: check whether registration is required and what its status is.
  • Keys disappear after saving: a blank key box keeps the saved value, so this should not happen. Re-enter the key if it was never saved.
