Template versions and “updated since” notices
Every template edit is a new version; existing quotes keep theirs, and you can compare or restore any version.
Every time you save a service template, VisionScaper stores a new immutable version. A quote, proposal, invoice or finished job keeps a frozen snapshot of the version it used. So changing a template later never changes a quote you have already made.
See and compare versions
- Open Services.
- On a template row tap the clock icon (Version history).
- The list shows each version, the date and who saved it. The current one is marked.
- Tap View to read a version.
- Tick two versions and tap Compare to see them side by side.
Restore an old version
- In Version history find the version you want.
- Tap Restore.
- Confirm. It becomes a new version (for example version 5), and the history is kept.
Save a change as a new version
- Edit the template. A Change note field says “Saving creates version N+1. Existing estimates, proposals, invoices and jobs keep the version they used.”
- Write a short note, for example “raised mulch depth”.
- Tap Save as new version. If nothing changed you see “No changes to save.”
“Updated since” notices on quotes
When a quote section was made from a template that is now newer, you see: “This template has been updated since you added it (now v[n]) — apply the latest version?” with two buttons:
- Apply: replaces the section’s content with the newer template.
- Keep v[old]: keeps your version and hides the notice for that version.
This only appears while the quote is a Draft or a Request. After a quote is sent, viewed or signed it is frozen.
Update a template from a quote
If you improved a section on a quote and want to reuse it:
- Save as template creates a new template from the section.
- Update template shows what changes, asks for a note, and writes a new version.
Tips
- Always write a change note. Future you will want it.
- Compare before restoring, so you pick the right one.
If something goes wrong
- No Restore button. You may be on the current version, or lack the right to edit.
- A signed quote did not update. By design, it keeps its version.
