Remove something from your photo
Take a bush, bin, hose or weeds out of the photo with the guided Remove screens or the Remove it tab.
You can take things out of the photo so your new design has room. There are two ways: the guided screens and the manual Remove it tab.
Before you start
- Open the Erase & fill tool (key W).
- The guided screens need an online helper to outline objects. Without sign-in or the helper, VisionScaper falls back to colour-based tapping.
- Credit use for guided removal is not verified in code. The credits window lists “AI Erase” as using 1 credit (placeholder, not approved), but the removal screens show no credit prompt. Check the credits pill in your own account.
- The first time you open Erase & fill in a session with nothing selected, the guided screens open by themselves.
Steps: guided removal
- Open Erase & fill. The first screen asks “What would you like to do?” with two cards: Clear an area and Take out one thing.
- Choose Take out one thing.
- Tap the item in the photo, or type its name. Suggestion chips include Shrubs & bushes, Weeds, Trash & recycling bins and Garden hose.
- Check the red outline. Use It missed some (then tap the missed part) or It has too much (then tap the part that should stay). Start over clears the outline. The link “I’d rather pick the spot myself” closes the guided screens.
- If you chose a plant, you are asked “Take out one plant, or clear the whole area?” with Just this plant or Clear the whole area.
- Press Yes, take it out. A working screen says it takes about 10 seconds.
- The result screen says “Here it is. Slide to compare.” with Before and After labels and a slider.
- Press Looks good — keep it, or Not quite and pick why.
If the result is not right
You get up to three tries. After Not quite you see “What looks wrong?” Choose a reason:
| Reason | What it does |
|---|---|
| Part of it is still there | Tries again on what was missed |
| It looks blurry or fake | Tries another fill |
| It took away too much | Tries a tighter outline |
| Something else looks wrong | Lets you describe it |
After the third try the screen says “I couldn’t get this one perfectly clean.” You can then choose Cover it with mulch, Cover it with grass, mark it “to be removed”, or Ask a landscaper to remove it (the cover and mark options appear only when a spot is selected). The same choices are under Show me other ways to handle it. If the online helper is busy, a basic fill is used and a note tells you so.
Steps: the Remove it tab
- In Erase & fill, switch to the Remove it sub-tab (key E). The other sub-tab is Pick the spot.
Tap what you want gone, such as an old shrub, a stump or a hose. Shift-tap adds more. - Under Select by, choose Just this or Everything like this. The second one finds all similar areas, which is the Magic erase.
- Use Grow the edges or Fix the selection with a brush to correct the outline.
- Press Remove it.
- To cover the gap, use Cover it with mulch, lawn or stone, with Soften the edge if you want a gentler blend.
Tips
- Weeds: Clear weeds from a bed has three levels: Only obvious, Most weeds, Everything green. Tap the mulch or soil of the bed, press Find weeds, check the highlighted spots, paint off any that are real plants (Paint off), then press Remove it. Plants you added are never touched.
- Everything like this is good for dandelions and stones. Just this grows out from your tap through similar colour.
- After a removal the Remove it tab says “Removed! Not perfect? Undo, adjust the selection and try again.” Press Ctrl+Z to bring the item back.
- Small, clearly outlined items work best. Take one item at a time.
If something goes wrong
- “That’s a lot of removing today! Try again tomorrow.” You reached the daily limit for the online fill. The code default is 80 a day per visitor (a placeholder, not approved). Wait, or try the Remove it tab (whether it uses the same online fill is not verified).
- The outline picks the wrong thing: use Pick the spot tools.
- The fill looks fake: go back one step and try a smaller selection.
