FAQ: designs, photos and AI

Seven quick answers about the camera, scale, growth slider, stretched materials, undo, aerial views and AI credits.

1. Does the camera work on every phone?

The live camera needs the page to load over https. If the camera is not available or permission is refused, VisionScaper falls back to the phone’s photo picker, so you can still choose a photo. See [troubleshooting-studio-camera-caching] for fixes.

2. How do I make plants the right size?

Use the Photo setup tool and the Set it up for me step (version 2.45.0). It finds eye level from the phone’s tilt, then straight lines in the photo, then AI, and spots a door, garage door, person or car and asks for one tap. It then shows 6-foot people to check (“They look too big / too small” nudges, with undo). Measuring yourself is an optional more exact section. The chip on the screen reads “Scale: good”, “Scale: okay” or “Scale: check it”.

3. What does the “See it grow” slider do?

It shows plants at future sizes using each plant’s real growth curve. It reads like “In 5 years (2031)”, has tick marks, and a Fully grown button. Plants have a Size when planted that you can choose from nursery sizes.

4. Why do my painted mulch or lawn look stretched?

In version 2.51.0 painted materials use a safer camera so they do not streak on your own photos. If one still looks stretched, turn down the Perspective of painted ground slider in the Brush and Bed panels. Material size also no longer changes on high-density (retina) screens.

5. How do I undo a mistake?

Press Ctrl+Z (or ⌘Z on a Mac) to undo and Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y to redo. Guided screens like Remove something have their own Try again and Undo. See [keyboard-and-gesture-cheat-sheet].

6. How do I remove weeds or an object from a photo?

Use Erase & fill. For weeds choose Clear weeds, make a blank canvas: circle the weedy part, review what it found, tap a red spot to leave one alone, then remove them all. For an object, choose Remove something, tap it, and compare Before and After with the slider. If it is not right, it asks what looks wrong and tries a different way, up to three tries.

7. Which addresses have an aerial (bird’s-eye) view?

Any US address. Connecticut uses the state’s 3-inch imagery. Elsewhere it uses a nationwide service at about 2 feet per pixel, which is fine for property lines, the house and the driveway. If there is no photo for your address, take or upload a photo instead.

Tips

  • Start from a real photo taken at eye level, in daylight, with the whole area in frame.
  • Use Try a sample yard to learn the tools without using your own photo.
  • Placing plants, painting ground, drawing beds and changing the season are free. Image changes made by the AI use credits (see [ai-credits-storage-packs-shop]).

If something goes wrong

  • The photo cannot be opened: use a JPG. On iPhone, Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.
  • Blank studio: see [troubleshooting-studio-camera-caching].
