Plans page: what happens when a payment fails
Set the day each stage starts, what pauses, the suspension day, fair-use alert and data-retention period.
On this page
Where: Settings → VisionScaper Plans, rows When a payment fails, Fair use and Keep data after cancelling. Administrators only. These settings step a contractor down gradually after a failed payment instead of cutting them off. Days are counted from the first failed payment, and paying at any stage restores everything instantly.
The stages in order
- Day 0 notice: full access, a quiet banner, one email (and a text if the contractor opted in to billing texts).
- Reminder: full access, a stronger banner, another email.
- Restricted: everything works except what costs you money (the five boxes below).
- Read-only: view, export and pay only; hidden from homeowners; a final warning with the suspension date.
- Suspended: “Suspended – Payment Required”. Nothing is deleted. Reminders go out after 7, 30 and 60 days.
- Eligible for deletion flag: after the days you set, the contractor is flagged on this page. Nothing is deleted automatically.

Steps
- Decide the day numbers. Keep them rising: reminder, restricted, read-only, suspended.
- Type each number in the matching box inside the numbered list on the page.
- Tick the pause boxes you want in the restricted stage.
- Set the fair-use number and the retention months.
- Press Save plans at the bottom of the plan table. The page saves the stages in order for you.
Tips
- If you type days out of order, the code raises the later one so the order always holds.
- To give one contractor more time, use Give more time to pay (days) ([plans-contractor-subscriptions-and-owner-actions]).
If something goes wrong
- A contractor says a tool is paused: check which stage their row shows (for example “past_due – restricted (day 9)”).
- The day numbers you typed changed after saving: they were out of order and were corrected.
