Create a Twilio Messaging Service
Make a Messaging Service, add your number, and paste its MG SID into VisionScaper.
A Messaging Service is a container for your sending numbers. Twilio ties your A2P 10DLC campaign to a Messaging Service, so most businesses should use one.
Before you start
- A Twilio account and at least one text-capable number.
Steps
- In the Twilio Console go to Messaging > Services.
- Click Create Messaging Service.
- Give it a name and choose a use case.
- Add senders to the sender pool. To add a number later, open the service and use Add Senders in the Sender Pool section.
- In the Integration section, check how incoming messages are handled. Twilio’s default is “Defer to sender’s webhook”, which means each number’s own webhook is used. VisionScaper’s help text says you can set the incoming webhook on the number or on the Messaging Service (see “Point Twilio at VisionScaper”).
- Add the compliance information Twilio asks for.
- Find the Messaging Service SID. It starts with
MG. Twilio’s page does not say where the Console shows it. Open the service details and look for “SID”. Not verified. - In WordPress go to Settings → VisionScaper → Text messages (Twilio).
- Paste the SID into Messaging Service SID (optional).
- Save.
What VisionScaper does with it
With a Messaging Service set, outgoing texts can use its sender pool instead of the single Twilio phone number. The exact sending logic is not verified here beyond the field’s help text.
Tips
- Twilio says a Messaging Service can be linked to only one campaign at a time. Add every number you will text from before you submit the campaign.
- Delivery status callbacks are set in the same Integration section under Delivery Status Callback. VisionScaper does not ask for one in its Twilio settings (not verified).
If something goes wrong
- Texts fail after setting the SID. The service has no sender, or the sender number is not attached to an approved campaign.
- The SID does not start with
MG. You copied another kind of SID. - A registered contractor number is missing. Add it to the Sender Pool.
