Twilio campaign type for marketing texts
Why marketing texts need their own A2P campaign, and what VisionScaper does to stay within the rules.
VisionScaper can text promotions, but only if the Twilio campaign allows them. A campaign that says “customer care” alone cannot carry promotions. This article explains how to choose the right use case.
Before you start
- Read “Register for A2P 10DLC on Twilio”.
- Know whether you send only job updates, only offers, or both.
What VisionScaper says on its Marketing page
On Settings → VisionScaper Marketing, under Texts & missed calls (Twilio), the text under Marketing texts says:
- Marketing texts need their own A2P 10DLC campaign in Twilio, with use case “Marketing” or “Mixed”.
- It sends marketing texts only to customers who gave written consent: a sign-up page, a signed form, or replying YES.
- It names the business in every text and honors STOP.
VisionScaper’s “Get ready to text” form offers three choices: Customer care (appointment and job updates), Marketing and offers, and Both updates and offers.
Steps
- Decide the use case.
– Job and appointment updates only: Customer care.
– Offers and promotions: Marketing, or a mixed use case that covers both. - In Twilio’s Campaign Registration, pick the matching use case. Twilio’s guide says some use cases need extra carrier review.
- Write sample texts that match. A promo sample should name your business and include “Reply STOP to opt out.”
- Describe how people agree to get texts. Match what VisionScaper really does: written consent from a sign-up page, a signed form, or a YES reply.
- Attach the Messaging Service that holds your sending numbers.
- If you already have a Customer care campaign, you need a second campaign for marketing. Twilio’s guide says a brand can have up to five campaigns, and one Messaging Service links to one campaign at a time.
Tips
- Do not mix promotions into a Customer-care-only campaign. Carriers may filter or block the number.
- Keep proof of consent. VisionScaper records opt-outs; keep your own proof of opt-in.
- Cost fields shown on the Marketing page (for example, cost per text segment) are your own estimates and are used for return-on-investment numbers only. The values shown by default are placeholders, not approved.
If something goes wrong
- Promo texts do not arrive but updates do. The number is attached to a campaign that does not cover marketing.
- Customers complain about texts they did not request. Check how they were added. Marketing texts should go only to consented contacts.
