Get your Telnyx API key
Create a Telnyx API key and enter it with your sending number and messaging profile in VisionScaper.
Telnyx is the second text service VisionScaper supports. You can use it instead of Twilio, or keep Twilio as the main service and let Telnyx act as a backup.
Before you start
- A Telnyx account.
- Admin access to WordPress.
Steps
- Sign in to the Telnyx Mission Control Portal.
- Open API Keys.
- Select Create API Key.
- Enter a label that says where it is used, for example “VisionScaper website”.
- Under Expiration, choose No Expiration or Set Expiration Date. If you set a date, put a reminder in your calendar.
- Create the key and copy it right away. Telnyx says the key value is shown once.
- In WordPress go to Settings → VisionScaper Messaging.
- In the Texts section, paste it into Telnyx key.
- Fill the other Telnyx fields (see the next article): Telnyx sending number and Telnyx messaging profile. Also see “Telnyx webhook address and secret” for Telnyx webhook secret.
- In Text service, choose Telnyx if you want it to be the main service.
- Tick If it fails, try the other one if you want automatic backup to Twilio.
- Click Save. The page prints “Saved.”
How the fields behave
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Telnyx key | The Bearer token VisionScaper sends to api.telnyx.com/v2/messages. A hidden field: leave it blank to keep the saved one. |
| Telnyx sending number | The number texts come from. A normal text box. |
| Telnyx messaging profile | Optional. Sent along with each text if filled. |
Telnyx also appears as Telnyx key on Settings → VisionScaper AI Receptionist for phone numbers there. That field is separate. What it is used for there is not verified in this article.
Tips
- VisionScaper adds “Reply STOP to opt out.” to a text that does not already contain the word STOP.
- It will not text a number that replied STOP, or sample customers.
- Telnyx’s quick start says sending to numbers outside Telnyx usually needs sender registration (10DLC or toll-free verification) or you may see error 40301.
If something goes wrong
- “Text not sent” with error 40300. The sending number has no messaging profile.
- Error 40301. The number is not registered for your use. See “Register for 10DLC on Telnyx.”
- Nothing sends and the setting says the provider is not ready. Both the key and the sending number must be filled for Telnyx to count as ready.
