Customer financing: every setting and button

Field-by-field guide to the Customer financing screen: lender link, example rate, loan lengths, wording, lender results and payment estimates.

VisionScaper is not a lender and never approves anyone. This screen lets you paste your own lender’s apply address so you can offer customers a way to pay over time. VisionScaper makes a personal apply link for a quote and keeps a list of where each application stands.

Where to find it: Contractor Hub → Finance & Reports → Customer financing. Your plan must include it (setting financing.consumer; which plan is a placeholder, not approved). If it is not part of your plan the quote screen says “Customer financing is not part of your plan.”

Before you start

  • You need an agreement with a lender who gives you an apply web address. VisionScaper does not choose or sign you up with a lender.
  • Have your lender’s current rate and loan lengths ready. The rate on this screen is only an example for estimates.
  • Have your lender or lawyer check the words shown with every estimate.

The “Your lender” card

At the top, a line says either “Ready. You can offer financing on any quote.” or “Not ready yet:” with what is missing. A note about the wording not being approved is shown above the card.

How it works (mode) Chooses how a customer applies. Options: Apply link (customers apply on the lender’s own site) and Lender’s application service (advanced) (for a lender that gives you a service address and key; needs a developer to match the lender’s field names and is not tested with any live lender). Pick Apply link unless a developer set up the advanced mode. Apply link.
Lender name (lender) The name shown to you and on the quote. “Example Home Loans”. Up to 80 characters. Empty.
Your lender’s apply address (apply_url) The web address customers are sent to. Shown only in Apply link mode. Must start with https://. You can put {reference} and {amount} in it; if you do not, they are added to the end. https://lender.example/apply Empty.
Lender’s application service address (api_url) The lender’s service address. Shown only in the advanced mode. Must start with https://. Empty.
Key from your lender (api_key) The key for that service. Stored scrambled and never shown again. Paste the key. Leave blank later to keep the saved one (shows “Saved. Type a new one to replace it.”). Empty.
Example APR for estimates (%) (default_apr) The rate used in the payment estimates. VisionScaper does not know your lender’s rate. A number from 0 to 60. Empty. Any example you use is a placeholder, not approved; use your lender’s rate.
Loan lengths to show (months) (terms) The loan lengths listed in estimates. Numbers separated by commas, such as 24, 48, 60. Give 1 to 8 values, each from 3 to 360. 24, 48, 60, 84.
Smallest quote to offer it on ($) (min_amount) Financing is not offered on quotes below this amount. A number from 0 to 1,000,000. 0.
Words shown with every estimate (disclosure) The notice shown with payment estimates. Up to 1,200 characters. Built-in wording that says financing is by the lender, payments are estimates, and it is not an offer of credit. Placeholder wording, not approved.
Financing is on (enabled) Turns the feature on. Tick when the lender address is saved. Off.
Put the customer’s name, email and phone in the apply link (customer_details) Adds the customer’s contact details to the link so they do not retype them. Tick only if your lender accepts them. Off.
Save financing settings (button) Saves everything above. Errors show in red above the button. Click once.

Let your lender tell VisionScaper the result (optional)

Open the section named “Let your lender tell VisionScaper the result”. If your lender can send messages when an application changes, give them the address and secret. Their messages then show as “Confirmed by the lender”. Without this, you mark the result yourself.

Field (exact label) What it does for VisionScaper What to enter and example Default / notes
Address (read-only box) The address your lender sends results to. Copy it from here. Select and copy it. Appears after you save the settings once.
Make a secret / Make a new secret (button) Creates the secret your lender must send. A new secret replaces the old one; you must give the lender the new one or their messages are refused (you are asked to confirm). Click, then copy. The secret is shown once.
Copy (button) Copies the new secret. Click. If copying fails, select it and copy by hand.

Applications

Each application row shows the customer, quote number, title, amount, status and whether it is “Confirmed by the lender” or “Marked by you (the lender has not confirmed it)”. Statuses: Offered, Applied, Approved by the lender, Declined by the lender, Funded.

Save (button on each row) Saves the status. Click after choosing.
Copy apply link (button) Copies the customer’s personal link so you can send it. Click, then paste into a message.
Go to my quotes / Add my lender Empty-state buttons that open Quotes or move you to the Lender name box. Click.

Try a monthly payment

Field (exact label) What it does for VisionScaper What to enter and example Default / notes
Amount ($) The loan amount to illustrate. 10000. Empty (hint shows 10000). Minimum 1.
APR (%) The rate to illustrate. Your lender’s rate. Your saved example APR.
Show payments (button) Shows a table of Months, Per month, Total paid and Interest, with a note that it is only an estimate. Click.

On the quote screen

A “Financing” block on each quote shows the status. Offer financing (or Offer again after a decline) creates the application and the apply link. Copy apply link copies it. If financing cannot be offered, a short reason is shown instead.

Steps

  1. Open Contractor Hub → Finance & Reports → Customer financing.
  2. Under How it works, leave Apply link.
  3. Type the Lender name and paste Your lender’s apply address.
  4. Enter an Example APR for estimates (%) from your lender, and the Loan lengths to show (months).
  5. Set Smallest quote to offer it on ($) if you want a floor.
  6. Read Words shown with every estimate and replace them with wording your lender approves.
  7. Tick Financing is on, then click Save financing settings. Look for “Saved.” and the line “Ready. You can offer financing on any quote.”
  8. Open a quote and click Offer financing, then Copy apply link and send it to your customer.
  9. When your lender tells you the result, return here and use Mark as… then Save.

Tips

  • Use Try a monthly payment to check numbers before you quote.
  • Never tell a customer they are approved until the row says “Approved by the lender” and your lender agrees.

If something goes wrong

  • “Not ready yet”: the line names what is missing, usually the apply address.
  • “Give 1 to 8 loan lengths in months, each from 3 to 360.” Fix the Loan lengths box.
  • Lender messages are refused. You probably made a new secret; give it to your lender.
  • Nothing in Applications. First turn financing on and save, then offer it from a quote.
