Record consent you already have

Save proof that a customer agreed to texts or emails, for one person or a pasted list.

Someone said yes on the phone, in person or on a form? Write it down with the date and wording. You can prove it later.

Warning: consent can’t come from a list you bought or got from someone else.

One customer

  1. Go to Marketing → 👥 Consent.
  2. Click ➕ Record consent for one customer.
  3. Type a name, phone or email in Customer and pick the person.
  4. Under What they agreed to, tick Texts and/or Emails. A channel is greyed out if the customer has no number or address on file.
  5. Pick How they agreed: Agreed on a phone call, Signed quote or contract, Paper form, Website sign-up form, Replied YES / START by text, Agreed in person, or Other (say how).
  6. Edit What they agreed to (the words). Write what the form said or what you told them. It is kept as proof.
  7. Set Date they agreed. It cannot be in the future.
  8. Optionally add Proof (optional): PNG, JPG, WebP or PDF, up to 5 MB.
  9. Click Save consent.

A list of customers

  1. Click 📋 Paste a list of customers.
  2. Put one person per line: phone, email or name, in any order. For example Jane Smith, (860) 555-0123.
  3. A preview says how many lines have a phone or email. Paste 500 or fewer at a time.
  4. Pick what they agreed to, how, the wording and the date. Everyone gets the same, so paste only people who agreed that way.
  5. Tick Add people who aren’t customers yet if needed.
  6. Do not tick This list was bought, rented or given to me by someone else. If you do, it is refused.
  7. Click Save consent for this list. Results show how many were saved and which lines were not found.

In Proof of consent, click Withdraw next to a record. The customer stops getting marketing for that channel. The record stays.

The checklist before a text campaign

Before your first marketing text campaign, you confirm a short checklist under Before you text a list. It is saved with the date and words. Reopen it under Marketing → Safety → ✅ Before you text a list.

Tips

  • If a person texted STOP or unsubscribed before, they must opt in themselves. Recording consent does not override that.
  • Everything you record appears in Your record on the Safety tab.

If something goes wrong

  • “Choose how they agreed.” appears: pick an option in How they agreed.
  • A line is rejected: it needs a phone number or an email.
