Asking customers for reviews

Send review requests automatically or by hand, share a QR link, and see how happy and unhappy customers are handled.

VisionScaper can ask customers for reviews at the right moment, from any step of a job. Open Marketing & Growth, then Marketing, tab Reviews.

How a review request works

The customer gets a short message with a link. The page asks for a star rating first. Happy customers are sent to your Google page (and Facebook or another site you add). Anyone who had a bad experience can also send private feedback straight to you, and you are alerted. Every customer is still offered the public review sites. The code states this is because Google and the FTC forbid “review gating”.

Set it up

  1. In Marketing, open Reviews.
  2. In the card Where reviews go, paste your link into Google. The hint says: in Google Business Profile get the review link and copy it. Follow Google’s current instructions. A Place ID also works.
  3. Add Facebook, or Another site — name and Another site — link. Tap Save links. The Test buttons open each link. Yelp is not offered. The screen says it does not allow asking.
  4. There is also a switch, “Also offer a VisionScaper review (with photos)”.
  5. In the card When to ask switch on what you want:
    – Review requests are on (the master switch)
    – When a job is marked Done
    – When the final invoice is paid
    – During maintenance, after every N completed visits
  6. Set Wait N days after the job before asking.
  7. Choose Send by: Best channel, Text or Email.
  8. Switch on One reminder if they don’t answer, after N days if you want.
  9. Set Don’t ask the same customer more than once every N days.
  10. Switch on Alert me right away about ratings of 3★ or less.

Ask by hand

A Ask for a review button is on every customer, finished job, paid invoice and appointment. Tap it, choose Send by and When (Now, or On my usual delay), then Send review request.

If they were asked recently, or already reviewed this job, you are told and offered Send anyway.

You can also use the tag {review_link} in any message.

The page gives you a public review link with Copy link and a QR code to print for leave-behind cards, invoices, business cards and truck magnets.

Texting uses Twilio. Marketing texts need written permission. The customer page has a Marketing card with the text consent state and a Record text consent button. Review requests themselves are a different flow from marketing texts, so check the setting wording for your situation (not verified in code).

See results

The top of the tab counts Asked, Opened, Rated (with the average), Went to Google / Facebook, Private feedback and Scheduled. Recent lists each customer with a status: scheduled, asked, opened, rated, opened a review site, sent feedback, not sent or cancelled. Feedback text shows under the name. Ratings of customers also appear on Today under Reviews, with a Reply button.

Tips

  • Ask soon after a good job and a happy goodbye.
  • Respond to every low rating the same day.

If something goes wrong

  • Nothing sent. The master switch is off, or Marketing is not set up yet.
  • “They were asked for a review recently.” Wait, or send anyway.
  • No Google page opens. Add the link under Your Google review link.
