Settings: Get paid online (Stripe) and text messages

Connect your own Stripe account so customers can pay deposits and invoices by card or bank, and see whether texting is on.

Path: Settings → Money → Get paid online.

Get paid online (Stripe)

If the site owner has not set up online payments, the tab says “Online payments aren’t set up on this website yet.” Otherwise you see how customers pay: card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and bank account (ACH) if the site allows it. The money goes to your own Stripe account.

The tab also lists the processing rates with a worked example for a $1,000 invoice. The rates are set by the site owner and are placeholders, not approved. They include card and bank network fees. Bank payments clear in about 4 business days, according to the page. Payout time to your bank is described as about 2 business days.

Steps

  1. Click Connect with Stripe. You go to Stripe to enter your details, following Stripe’s current instructions.
  2. When you return, the tab shows “Ready to take payments” if Stripe has what it needs. If it says Stripe still needs details, click Finish Stripe setup or Check status.
  3. Later use Update my Stripe details or Open my Stripe account.

Instant Payout

If the site offers Instant Payouts and your account is ready, an Instant Payout card shows what is available. Enter an amount and click Pay out instantly. It shows the fee and what you receive, about 30 minutes to a debit card. Stripe needs a debit card on your account.

Text messages

A second card says “Texting is on” when texting works. Then follow-ups and visit reminders can go by text, and customer replies are logged and emailed to you. If it is not set up, the page says the site owner adds Twilio in Settings → VisionScaper, and email works now. See [contractor-tools-text-and-payments].

Tips

  • Use “How to pay” on your invoice design to tell customers the options.
  • Search “stripe” or “credit card” to find this tab.
  • Autopay for saved cards is a separate site-owner switch.

If something goes wrong

  • Connect with Stripe does nothing. Billing or Connect may not be set up on the site.
  • Not ready. Stripe may still need documents. Finish setup there.
  • No Instant Payout card. The site owner has not offered it, or your account is not ready.
