Contractor approval (for the site owner)
How contractor applications arrive, how to approve, suspend or reject them, and what the applicant sees.
By default, a new contractor must be approved before they can use the Hub. You decide who gets in.
How an application arrives
- A contractor opens the Hub page and creates an account.
- They fill in the Business profile form and tick the Terms of Service and confidentiality boxes, then click Apply to be a VisionScaper contractor.
- They see “Your application is being reviewed” and are told they will be emailed when approved.
- The application appears in WordPress under Settings → VisionScaper Contractors. A number badge shows how many are pending.
Review and decide
The page lists each business with: Business (logo, website, short bio), Contact, Area (town, state, radius, services), License / insurance (license number, “Insured” tick, years in business), Activity (quotes sent, signed, done, reviews) and Status. Check their license and insurance before approving.
Buttons: Approve, Suspend, Reject. Status values are pending, approved, suspended and rejected. You cannot suspend or reject the owner. You, the site owner, are always approved.
When you approve, VisionScaper emails the contractor “You’re approved as a VisionScaper contractor” and notifies them in the app. Suspending or rejecting also notifies them of the status change.
Steps
- Go to Settings → VisionScaper Contractors.
- Read the new row.
- Check the license and insurance by your own process.
- Click Approve, or Reject.
- Suspend a contractor later if you need to pause them.
Automatic approval
Under Settings → VisionScaper → Contractors there is a box Approve contractor applications automatically (not recommended). Leave it off unless you are happy for anyone who applies to get in.
If you turn off Turn on the Contractor Hub, Find a Local Contractor and My Projects, the approval page says contractor tools are switched off.
Tips
- Approved contractors appear under Find a Local Contractor for homeowners.
- After approval, the contractor starts the free trial if billing is on. See [plans-billing-credits-and-usage].
If something goes wrong
- The contractor did not get an email. Check your site’s mail setup. They also get an in-app message.
- They still see “being reviewed”. Ask them to reload after you approve.
