Browse the plant and item library

Find plants and garden features in the Add tool, by category, and read each card.

The library holds the plants and garden features you can place. The readme describes it as 2,656 East Coast plants and 488 garden features, with common and scientific names, drawn at true scale. Counts can change in later versions.

Where to find it

  • Inside a design: Add → Plants & things (key P).
  • Outside a design: the home screen’s More tools → Plant & item library.

Categories

Tap a chip under the search box: Trees, Evergreens, Shrubs, Perennials, Grasses, Annuals, Vines, Features, My Library.

  • Features are things like benches, lighting and structures. They have group buttons such as Stone, Seating, Fire, Water, Lighting, Planters, Structures, Fences & Walls, Decor and Outdoor Living.
  • My Library holds your own items made from photos. See Add your own item from a photo.

Reading a card

Each card shows a picture, the common name, the scientific name in italics, and a size line such as “10 ft × 8 ft” with growth in inches per year. Small tags show Native, Evergreen, Deer-resistant and, if flagged, an invasive note. If you have set a hardiness zone, a line such as “Likely to thrive here” or “Borderline here” appears. Tap the small i on a card for the full fact sheet.

Steps

  1. Open Add → Plants & things.
  2. Pick a category chip.
  3. Scroll. Cards load as they come into view, 60 at a time. Tap the Show … more button at the bottom for the next batch.
  4. Tap a card to start placing it, then tap the photo. See Place a plant.

The “Filters and more tools” section

Tap Filters and more tools to open the filters, a hint line, and two buttons: Add my own item and Plant ID. See Filter plants.

Tips

  • Outside a design, tapping a card opens the fact sheet (or the edit window for your own item), because there is no photo to place on.
  • With photo packs installed, cards use real photos. Without them, drawn plants are shown. See Library packs.

If something goes wrong

  • Cards show gray boxes: thumbnails are drawn as you scroll. Wait a moment.
  • “No matches”: clear filters or search a simpler word like “red”, “shade” or “native”.
  • A plant is missing: if its photo was deleted from My Library, designs drop it.
